The regulatory board is part of the Economic Council (Consejeria de Economia,
Industria y Comercio) of the Government of Extremadura (Junta de Extremadura),
which operates independently with local decision making.
Its
area of authority is determined locally by the producers and bottlers.
Its principal aim is to look after the promotion and publicity of the
denominated product, as well as the exploration of new markets.

From
the law passed on the 11th of January, 1999 from the Economic Council
of the Government of Extremadura, ratified by the Ministry of Agriculture,
Fishing and Food Production, it was created the Labels of Regulated Quality
(D. O.) Miel Villuercas Ibores and its Regulatory board. Previously called
Labels of Quality Miel Villuercas Ibores, it was established by law on
the 8th of February, 1989 by the Agriculture and Commerce department of
the Government of Extremadura.
The
regulatory board is comprised of 8 spokespersons, amongst whom elect the
President and Vice-president belonging to the different sectors.
